Mama Cass's story starts a while back - she showed up at an office building courtyard in the downtown area early this spring with seven kittens in tow. The kittens were easily caught when they were weaned and they were adopted out, but Mama Cass proved too smart to be caught in a humane trap. Over the summer she had a second litter of kittens and eluded the traps herself once again. In the fall, her caretakers were able to safely catch her and get her spayed. Mama Cass tested negative for FIV/FeLV at that time, and was vaccinated. She was re-released into her comfort zone, the courtyard.
Fast-forward a few months and Mama Cass is a brand new cat! She's become very comfortable with her caretakers and looks forward to their daily visits. She loves being petted and seeks out attention from friends, both old and new. She even knows her name. Mama Cass needs a new start! Judging by how quickly she's turned around, we think she was a pet when she was younger. Mama Cass needs someone who will spend time with her and continue her re-socialization in a safe environment, indoors and away from the harsh Kansas City winter weather. She's a gorgeous, friendly cat with so much love to give!
