Considering the current situation, TARA does NOT support any form of breeding. Shelters are overflowing with pets in need.... There is NO excuse to add more to an already over-saturated market.

Who We Are
A non-profit 501C3, all volunteer group dedicated to helping homeless pets in the Greater Kansas City area. Our organization is the result of an alliance between several rescuers in the Kansas City region who share the same goal of ending animal suffering and homelessness.
Thanks to the wonderful donations we receive from our supporters and those who believe in our efforts, T.A.R.A. is now able to lease a building in a boarding facility and has access to several kennels. This little shelter is allowing us to save many more lives.
In addition to rescuing pets from difficult situations, we offer courtesy listings in Pet Finder, facilitate low-cost spays and neuterings, work on transfers and transports with existing rescue groups, help individuals and organizations promote, screen and educate potential adopters, fund raise to help pets with special needs, offer guidance and information about animal rescue, organize events, etc.
It is the mission of The Animal Rescue Alliance to establish and maintain the ideals of Tara Nagel* with regards to the treatment of homeless and unwanted animals.
T.A.R.A. is an established 501C3 non-profit organization. All donations are tax deductible.
*Who Is Tara?
Tara was an angel on earth who lost her life in a terrible car accident on November 2005. Before leaving us, Tara had found her vocation in working with companion animals and was an angel to the pets that were lucky enough to be under her care. Tara was such a kind, caring and compassionate person, that we are sure she has moved onto something bigger and better. She must have been called to comfort the astonish number of pets that die without a home. She is now our inspiration and motivation to continue helping pets in need.
Adoption Events
T.A.R.A. organizes adoption events every weekend, usually on Saturdays, so people can meet pets they might be interested to adopt. Several locations in the Kansas City area for your convenience. Please visit our EVENTS page for locations and schedule.

Adopters' Waiting List
If you are looking for a particular type of pet we don't have in our program, we will be glad to keep your information on hand and help you find a pet that meets your requirements. Please send us an email and let us know what kind of pet you are looking for. We will ask you to fill out an application that we will keep in our database and next time we have a pet that would be a good match for you, we will contact you.
Listing A Pet With T.A.R.A.
T.A.R.A. will promote pets for adoption that are with other organizations or individuals. We don't have a facility to take pets in but we feature pets in Petfinder.com, we organize and attend adoption events, and can help you find affordable boarding and vetting for a pet you wish to help.
We require proof of spay/neut and vaccination (phone number of your vet) before listing any pet on-line.
We will assist you with screening and transport. In exchange, we ask for a minimum $100.00 donation (adoption fee) once your pet is placed (if placed via TARA).
